AlazarTech announces support for MATLAB® for its family of PCI and PCI Express waveform digitizers
Montreal, Canada (May 2, 2011)
AlazarTech, a manufacturer of high
performance, low cost PC Based Instruments,
today released ATS-SDK 6.0.2 software
development kit, which includes support for
MATLAB® technical computing
software for its entire family of PCI and
PCI Express waveform digitizers.
ATS-SDK 6.0.2 adds sample programs, helper
functions, and utility m-files that
demonstrate how MATLAB users can configure
and acquire data from AlazarTech waveform
digitizers directly from MATLAB.
ATS-SDK 6.0.2 also includes example m-files
that demonstrate how to stream data from
AlazarTech digitizers directly into MATLAB
arrays at a sustained rate of up to 1.6
GB/s, while consuming almost no CPU
resources. This allows MATLAB users to
create applications that use almost all
available CPU resources to process this
acquired data in real-time using MATLAB's
powerful numerical computing functions.
“Customer surveys showed that a significant
number of users of our waveform digitizers
were importing acquired data into MATLAB to
do signal processing”, stated Muneeb Khalid,
President of AlazarTech. “With ATS-SDK
6.0.2, we not only allow customers to import
data, we also let them process it in
real-time, allowing them to build powerful
parallel computing signal processing systems
for radio applications”.
The sample programs use MATLAB's "calllib"
interface to call functions exported by
AlazarTech software drivers. This allows
MATLAB users to control AlazarTech waveform
digitizers entirely from MATLAB m-file
scripts. Now users can modify MATLAB
programs simply by editing an m-file and
re-running the script without an extra
compilation step, as required with mex-files. For Further
